TRICARE Travel Guidelines
To ensure your TRICARE service is available when you travel, please follow these guidelines:
1.. Prior to departure, verify that you and your families information is up to date in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
2.. Pack your military ID and TRICARE Prime/Prime Remote enrollment card
3.. Call 1-877-874-2273 (the number on the pack of the card) to find out what to do prior to seeking care if you are hospitalized.
4.. Schedule any routine care with your Primary Care Manager (PCM) before you leave. Urgent care must be coordinated in advance with your PCM.
Launch of TRICARE Beneficiary Bulletin Podcast
The TRICARE Management Activity is adding a news podcast to their website. The TRICARE Beneficiary Bulletin will update listeners on TRICARE Reserve Select, news of other military health programs, upcoming changes to the TRICARE benefit and quick tips to promote a healthy lifestyle. A new podcast will be featured on the TRICARE website every Thursday at http://www.tricare.mil/pressroom. To receive alerts of new podcasts go to http://www.tricare.mil and click on "E-mail Updates" in the pressroom section of the front page.
Handy "Contact Us" Page at TRICARE.mil
Since TRICARE uses several different contractors to administer healthcare, pharmacy and dental benefits around the world, it often becomes difficult for beneficiaries to find the contact information needed. In addition to telephone numbers, the contact page provides links to locate the nearest military treatment facilities, beneficiary counseling and assistance coordinators, and debt collection assistance officers. The contact information can be found at http://www.tricare.mil/contactus.
